This Dude Went to Harvard??

Andrew Sullivan went indie this year, asking his readers to pony up at least $20 to read his blog.  A lot of people did, but I didn't for a couple of reasons.  A)  Almost every single post is an excerpt from someone else's blog with a little bit of commentary.  I'm not paying $20 for that.  B)  The posts with original work aren't worth a dime, much less $20 a year.

I already made fun of his "the gay left made me support Iraq" nonsense.  Here he is on a related subject, proudly being childish, petty, and willfully dumb:

In some ways, I find the opportunism of the Clintons – who did more substantive harm to gay people in eight years than any other administration – more disgusting than the fundamentalist hostility. At least the Christianists were sincere.
Yeah, dude, they were sincerely trying to fuck up your life.

Hey, I get it.  The Clintons were indifferent allies, eager to compromise, not willing to fight.  If you want to get mad at them, go for it.

But to prefer sincere enemies over indifferent allies?  There's only one word that can be used to describe that:  idiotic.

It reminds me of a line from the Big Lebowski:
Say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
