Monumental Failure

Had a Kirk Cameron related disaster at work today and the switchboard went crazy. At one point, I was just grabbing lines. "[Insert corporate greeting]. Please hold." Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam.

I joked with a co-worker that this proves that God is not an Evangelical. I mean, if he was and this message was of such crucial importance that he must have Kirk Cameron deliver it, there would be no technical difficulties. The equipment could be unplugged and it would work.

Of course, despite the religious overtones, let's be honest about what happened tonight. A lot of money was made...and then a lot of money was lost. I don't know if heads will roll, but fingers will be pointed.

There will be no turning of the cheek and giving of the cloak also.

The Utter Uselessness of the American Libertarian

If you support the Church/government team-up on denying people birth control pills...what good are you?

Seriously. You say you're for liberty. You're whine endlessly about coercion. And yet you can't see a blatant, coercive stab right at the heart of liberty even if it's staring you in the face.

Points to Ponder

If you download a pirated copy of Avatar, you're not just stealing a movie. You're pissing on James Cameron's childhood dreams of being a deep-sea explorer.

I don't want to sound heartless, but sounds like these kids are learning an important lesson on the dangers of gang-banging. How'd that old saying go? "Better check yourself, before you wreck yourself?"

Obviously it's a tragedy and I sympathize with the family, but when the father says, "He was done gang-banging," I think we should acknowledge that the finality of that statement is only true because of the kid's death. When the memorial pictures show you flashing gang're not really done with gang-banging.

The sad thing? I bet the family knows who did this and why. I bet they will never cooperate with the police. I bet the murder is never solved. That's just how things go in gangland. There are no innocent victims. You never snitch. And after a while, the police stop caring about dead gangbangers.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk

Back in January, me and my brother drove out to Lawrence, Kansas to watch the Kansas Jayhawks beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Now the Jayhawks are in the Final Four.

Coincidence? I think not...

The bonus? They'll be playing Ohio State for the chance to play in the championship. I loathe Ohio State. Victory will be twice as sweet.
